Becoming ‘that guide’
Growing up on his parents’ ranch in rural Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, the call of the wild chimed early for Lee.
Armed with fishing rod or camera, Lee took every available opportunity to explore his bushveld surroundings. After completing a Diploma of Forestry at Saasveld College in the Southern Cape, he worked as a forester for a few years but was soon drawn back to the bush.
In 2000 he began a 10-year career with Singita Game Reserves, cutting his guiding teeth in the Kruger National Park, which boasts some of the best leopard viewings on the African continent. From there, Lee went on to become a guide trainer and specialist guide for Singita, based in the Serengeti, Tanzania.
Lee has been private guiding since 2010, and there are few African wildlife hotspots he has not visited. Leading safaris throughout southern and East Africa, and the Indian Ocean Islands, Lee has developed a special passion for Madagascar during his professional career.
Lee is based in South Africa, living in St Lucia, the gateway to Kwazulu-Natal’s tourism highlights.
A youthful enthusiasm for life and passion for the outdoors makes Lee a treat to travel with. He is especially popular with families and children.
After hours he keeps busy mountain biking, hiking, fishing, paddling and trail running.
